How to Avoid Fake Kumbh Mela Tent Bookings: 6 Checks Before You Pay
Every Kumbh brings fake tent-booking websites and agents. How to book a Kumbh Mela tent for Haridwar 2027 safely: the checks to make, the warning signs, and what a real booking looks like.

Searching for Kumbh Mela tents online turns up dozens of sites promising "luxury tents at the Sangam ghat" at a price that looks too good. Every Kumbh, pilgrims lose money to fake tent bookings: websites copied from real camps, "agents" on WhatsApp asking for full payment to a personal UPI ID, and camps that turn out not to exist when the family arrives at night. Here is how to book a Kumbh Mela tent for Haridwar 2027 (14 January – 20 April 2027) without becoming one of them.

The warning signs of a fake Kumbh tent booking
- Full payment up front to a personal UPI ID or bank account, with a deadline ("only 2 tents left, pay in 10 minutes").
- No exact location. "Near Har Ki Pauri" or "in the Kumbh area" but no map pin, no camp zone, no address.
- Stock photos — the same tent pictures you find on other sites, or hotel rooms passed off as tents.
- A phone number that only chats and never takes a call.
- No booking reference, no name of the company, no written confirmation.
- A price far below every other camp for an Amrit Snan date.
Six checks before you pay anyone
- Ask for the camp's location pin and check it falls in a real Kumbh camp zone — in Haridwar that means areas such as Bairagi Camp, Neel Dhara or Daksh Dweep in Kankhal.
- Call the number. A real camp desk answers and can tell you the walking route to the ghat for your snan date.
- Ask for photos of the actual tents, inside and out, including the bathroom.
- Get the rate in writing for your dates, with what it includes — meals, heater or blankets, hot water.
- Know who you are paying. The payment should go to the camp or a company you can identify, not to a stranger's personal number.
- Get a booking reference and a confirmation that names your dates, tent type and guests.
What a real Kumbh tent should give you
For families and elders, look for a framed Swiss cottage tent with a raised floor, real beds and an attached bathroom with hot water — not a shared block. Ours come in three types, all with their own bathroom: Deluxe (twin or double beds), Luxury (a four-poster king bed) and Royal (our largest, on a wooden deck). Compare them in Deluxe vs Luxury vs Royal, and see what decides the tent tariff.
How booking a tent works with Pulp Hotels
Pulp Hotels is a registered hotel booking platform, with a desk you can call. Our Kumbh Mela tents are at four Haridwar camps — Bairagi Camp, Neel Dhara, Daksh Dweep and Rishikesh — plus Nashik and Ujjain for the Simhastha.
- You send your dates, group size and tent type to the Kumbh desk on WhatsApp, or call.
- The desk quotes the rate for your dates and shares the camp's location pin before anything is paid.
- You get a booking reference on WhatsApp, and you pay at the camp — nothing is charged just to ask.
When to book
For the Amrit Snan days — 6 March, 8 March and 14 April 2027 — book your tent two to three months ahead; genuine camps near the ghats fill first, which is exactly the pressure fake sites use. If a deal appears days before a snan with perfect availability, be careful.
All our camps and tents are on the Kumbh Mela camps page.
Plan your stay: see every camp, hotel, ashram and homestay on our Kumbh Mela Haridwar stays page (and all Kumbh Mela camps), or WhatsApp the Pulp Hotels Kumbh desk on +91 93891 86101.
