International Yoga Festival Rishikesh 2027 (9–15 March): Dates, Venue and Where to Stay
The International Yoga Festival returns to Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh from 9 to 15 March 2027. What the week is like, how to register, and which part of Rishikesh to stay in.

Every March, Rishikesh hosts the International Yoga Festival, a week of yoga, meditation and talks on the banks of the Ganga that draws teachers and students from across the world. In 2027 it runs from 9 to 15 March at Parmarth Niketan in Swarg Ashram, according to the festival's own website. It is the one week of the year when rooms near Parmarth go months ahead, so plan the stay as early as the registration.

The festival week usually runs from early-morning practice through workshops and talks to the evening Ganga Aarti on Parmarth's ghat. Some participants take a full festival package with accommodation inside the ashram; many more stay nearby and come in each day. Check the festival's website for this year's programme, fees and what the package includes.
Which part of Rishikesh to stay in
Rishikesh runs for about fifteen kilometres along both banks, and the right area for the festival is the one that lets you walk to Parmarth for a 6 am class.
- Swarg Ashram and Ram Jhula — the closest, on the same bank as Parmarth, among ashrams and quiet lanes. This belt is pedestrian in places, and meat and alcohol are not allowed, which suits the week.
- Muni ki Reti — across the river, a walk over the bridge to Swarg Ashram; flatter and with more mid-range stays.
- Tapovan and Laxman Jhula — the cafés and yoga schools, a longer walk or a short ride from Parmarth. Aroha Residency Inn White Flower is near Laxman Jhula, with a pool and a rooftop deck over the valley.
- Haridwar or Dehradun — if Rishikesh is full, both are within an hour by road; see hotels in Haridwar and hotels in Dehradun.

Rishikesh in March
March is one of the best months in Rishikesh: warm, clear days, cool mornings and evenings, and the river running green. Pack layers for the early classes and a shawl for the evening aarti. The festival week is busy, but the town is calmer than on the long weekends of October.
Around the festival
The festival leaves the late afternoons free, and Rishikesh rewards a few hours off the mat:
- Triveni Ghat — the town's largest ghat, with its own evening aarti, livelier than Parmarth's.
- The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia) — the old Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ashram where the Beatles stayed in 1968, now inside the Rajaji reserve and open to visitors with a ticket.
- Kunjapuri temple — a hilltop temple above the town, best at sunrise for the view of the Himalaya.
- Neer Garh waterfall — a short walk in the hills near Laxman Jhula.
Getting to Rishikesh
Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun is about 35 minutes from Rishikesh by taxi. Haridwar Junction, around 21 km away, has the best train connections, including from Delhi. Plan to arrive the day before the festival starts, so the first morning is not lost to the road.
Before you book
- Book early: rooms near Parmarth fill months ahead for the festival week.
- Ask how far the walk is to Parmarth Niketan, and whether the lane is pedestrian-only from the drop point.
- Foreign nationals need passport and visa details at check-in, and not every property is registered to host foreign guests — confirm in advance.
- If you are staying more than a week, ask about a weekly rate.

Pulp Hotels Team
The Pulp Hotels Team is the desk that runs Pulp Hotels and the verified properties on this route — Barkot, Uttarkashi, Harsil, Guptkashi, Joshimath, Badrinath and the Kedarnath valley. We deal with the owners of those hotels, and with the pilgrims staying in them, through every day of the season, and these guides are written and corrected from that work and from the official notices each season brings. Fares and opening dates change every year, so we leave them out on purpose and point you at the source instead.
